How do I know when a tree is sick?
It can be very easy to tell if your tree is in need of some tender loving care; if you know what to look for. For those unfamiliar with the tell-tale signs of a tree in distress, don’t wait until it’s too late.
Some key characteristics of an unhealthy tree are:
- peeling
- loose bark
- cracks or deep slits in the tree
You can also tell by the tree trunk’s general appearance. Some things to look for are:
- signs of swelling
- cavities
- soft or decaying wood
- small holes
The leaves and branches, also known as the “canopy”, will often shown signs of distress as well.
